NORWAY OPEN 2009

Results, Norway Open

We are happy to announce the first edition of the Norwegian Open Quiz - "Grand Prix Event" !

The quiz will be played as an individual event and held on SATURDAY, MARCH 7 2009 in the manner of the World Championships, as a write in where other countries may participate simultaneously. The inaugurate quiz of 2009 will consist of 240 questions in 6 categories following the english system:

  • Art & Culture
  • Civilisation
  • Entertainment
  • Lifestyle
  • Physical World
  • Sport & Leisure

The NORWAY OPEN will in addition to the later UNITED KINGDOM OPEN be designated as a "European Grand Prix Event". Due to the short notice, the events will not be rated on the European Rating in 2009, but hopefully both will be included in the 2010 calendar. In addition to the Oslo location, a Cardiff delegation will be hosted at approximately the same time. Other IQA Members are still welcome to host the event locally.

The purpouse of these Open Events is to increase the number of international competitions, without the need of travelling outside one's home country, and also to increase the number of yearly rated competitions.

Difficulty: The level of difficulty will be international.
Language: The questions will be available in english and norwegian.
Time: The allotted time is 2x45 minutes, 120 questions in each half.
Scoring: All six categories will count for the total score, with a maximum of 240 points, 40 in each of the six categories.

Each category will consist of 40 questions, divided into (approximately) 10 "basic knowledge" questions, 20 difficult questions, and 10 quite difficult questions.

IQA organisations that wish to participate in the Norway Open at their own location, please write to: admin@norgesquizforbund.no
